A closer look

01 / The idea

Put your games
under the lens.

Chess is a huge part of my life. I play competitively, coach on the side and have a particular admiration for Bobby Fischer and Capablanca.

You can read about reviewing mistakes, choosing a coach or finding a book that suits your experience. Each guide gives you something concrete to consider before your next game.

New players can begin with the rules and a manageable study routine. If you already play regularly, the opening guides and tactics collections offer more focused reading.

02 / How to use the journal

Give your study
some direction.

01

Explain your choices.

Write down why you chose a move. Compare that reasoning with what happened on the board.

02

Revisit a difficult position.

Return to the point where you felt unsure and consider another plan. Keep the position for your next study session.

03

Talk through a game.

Ask another player how they saw the position. A casual game can leave you with plenty to discuss.

03 / Behind the name

Why the
Réti?

The name comes from an opening that starts with 1. Nf3. White develops a piece before committing the central pawns. You can follow an example of this setup on the homepage.
